FISHERIES - PERMIT APPEALS

Ouellette & Smith represents commercial fishing vessel owners in permit appeals

With the increase in fishery management regulations and limited access, your permit rights are crucial to profitable operation. To avoid exclusion from any fishery, particularly those upon which you have a historical dependence, make sure you keep apprised of developments in your fishery. If you are denied a permit make sure you file a timely appeal or you may be forever barred from that fishery.

Early intervention by your legal representative may prevent loss of a permit.

MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND ALL THE RULES BEFORE YOU GO FISHING
When in doubt about the stautus of your permit, call National Marine Fisheries Service, the United States Coast Guard, or your state enforcement agency. Keep a record of your call, along with the name of the person or persons you speak to - it might save your permit.
